The premise here is fantastic, and I get why people were raving about it! LJ Smith is a respected author and I totally see why. (Unless he kisses her, and then she's a puddle)Īnyway, it was a really fast read, and I'm certainly not intending to trash it. She's fairly bland, though at least she as some determination to get away from Julian. And I just didn't get it, because Jenny herself barely has any redeeming qualities. But for the majority of the book, it's just a "Hey we should be together but there's NO REASON for it" deal.

I would have at least UNDERSTOOD his reasons. And though that's creepy AF, I could still get on board for the ride. Like, okay, he saw her at a young age and has been watching after her ever since - and this basically turns into a Hades/Persephone thing. Now, to be fair, when things are explained later on, it made so much more sense - but I wanted so much more. But Julian basically meets Jenny and tells her right off that he's in love with her. Instant attraction and infatuation - I'm ALL game for that. But when a boy pops out of now here and makes love declarations to a girl for absolutely no reason, at the beginning of the book, I get a little turned off. Anything with a villain love interest will catch my attention. I'm also going to be a bit lenient because the book came out a long time ago and feels a bit dated (not in a bad way - but it was a different era for YA literature). So, take this review with a grain of salt! The story probably works for the intended audience, which I am not. The idea of this book is SO GOOD, and to be honest with you, I probably would have loved this as a teen. These were written by Kevin Williamson and/or various ghostwritters.Īhhh I'm sad. did not write any of the Originals or Stefan's Diaries. After that, a ghostwriter took over the rest of the series. wrote books 1-3 of The Secret Circle series. Smith wrote books 1-7 of The Vampire Diaries series. Her favorite people are her readers, each of whom she cherishes with deep and lasting affection.

#Which forbidden game should i get tv
She doesn't have a favorite TV show, because she doesn't have time to watch TV (and only owns one for playing movies). Her favorite movies are The Seven Samurai and Avatar (analyze that!). Her favorite poets are Robert Frost and Emily Dickinson. Her favorite classical writer is Jane Austen. Her favorite current writer is Terry Pratchett, the author of the Discworld series, for its wild and witty satires on life, death, war, love, assassins, coppers, and Australia. The two countries she loves to visit most are Great Britain, with its historic monuments and amazing country landscapes, and Japan, with its bustling urban life and exquisite mountain scenery. A militant optimist, she is also part of the Velociraptor Sisterhood (a fancy way of saying that she likes to read, write and discuss books with strong female characters), and she has traveled extensively in Europe and the Far East. She also likes to collect things: angels (they remind her of her late mother), tiny boxes from different countries or of fanciful shape, nineteenth century children's literature, and books about quantum physics-especially about the mystery of the dark energy in the universe. Once, while hiking, she saw a snow-white buck which allowed her to follow it nearly half a mile. She loves to visit a friend's little cabin in the Point Reyes National Seashore area, which has lots of trees, lots of animals, lots of beaches to walk on, and lots of places to hike.
#Which forbidden game should i get full
She lives in the Bay Area of California, with a backyard that is full of flowers, which she adores, especially with many different shades of roses. She has written over two dozen books for children and young adults, and has enjoyed writing every one of them. SMITH, Lisa Jane Smith, is the New York Times #1 Bestselling author of The Vampire Diaries, The Secret Circle, The Forbidden Game, Dark Visions, Wildworld and Night World series. I have a new blog about my Vampire Diaries fanfic.
